The Ashanti Regional Executive of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has chided the former Member of Parliament (MP) for Asokwa, Mr Kofi Jumah, over alleged unsavory comments that sought to deride chiefs in the region.
He was said to have made scathing attacks on delegation of chiefs to the Flag Staff House to congratulate President John Dramani Mahama on his assumption of office following his victory in Election 2012, accusing them of behaving like puppets during a radio panel discussion.
Mr Jumah reportedly declared that the Okyenhene, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin II, was the only person who won his respect and admiration for forthrightness and sense of maturity.
A press statement signed by the Ashanti Regional NDC Chairman, Mr Yaw Owusu Obimpeh, said the party found it distasteful the unjustified and unwarranted insults on the traditional rulers.
It said the brazen arrogance and intolerance that the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) and its leading members continue to put on public display was unhelpful to the nation's democracy.
The statement called on Ghanaians to have the courage to roundly condemn abhorrent conduct to restore some level of sanity in political discourse.
