The head of Kunduz province's counter-terrorism operations and the head of the region's transport
department were killed in a suicide bombing late Saturday, Afghan police said.
The lone bomber blew himself up in the main square of Kunduz city, the provincial capital, police spokesman Sayed Sarwar Hussaini told dpa.
Many civilians were also fatally injured in the attack, he said, though local authorities were unable to give any numbers.
