Tainted referee Robert Hoyzer has fuelled the escalating German match-fixing scandal by claiming that for two years now German football clubs have been inviting referees into brothels prior to matches.
According to Spiegel magazine Hoyzer claimed that "for the past two years it was the normal practice for referees to be invited into brothels by the referee supervisors assigned by the clubs."
Hoyzer, who was arrested in Berlin two weeks ago, claims he has extensive knowledge about these brothel visits and is prepared to divulge all.
He has already put forward names in connection with a regional league match between FC Sachsen Leipzig and Erzgebirge Aue in October 2000.
On the evening before the game Hoyzer and two of his fellow officials were taken to a strip club and later a brothel by the club representative.
The trio then received 150 marks (75 euros) each "to do with as we pleased".
Hoyzer was actually not nominated as an official for the game and was in Leipzig of his own free will.
The disgraced official has already admitted to fixing four matches for financial gain but is actually being probed for a total of 63 matches.
Three other German officials Felix Zwayer, Dominik Marks and Jurgen Jansen are being investigated for rigging matches after Hoyzer named them.
