Registrants on the New Patriotic Party’s online system who failed to affirm their names at their respective polling stations will not be allowed to participate in the party’s upcoming polling station elections.
This was one of the key decisions taken by the National Executive Committee as it reviewed modalities for the exercise. The party has also expanded the number of polling stations to be supervised by each polling station election committee from 10 to 25.
The meeting is the first since the party embarked on a nationwide membership drive in March. It also marked Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s first appearance at an official party event since his election as flagbearer on January 31 this year.
Speaking to Citi News after the meeting, the NPP’s Director of Communications, Richard Ahiagbah, revealed that the guidelines for the upcoming polling station elections had been reviewed.
“The data from the membership drive; those who went to the polling station to physically write their names have their names now being entered into our database. But for the online registration, they are all there. It will be merged at some point.
“If you registered online and were not able to go and verify as directed then that situation maintains that you cannot vote and be voted for,” he said.
