Ibrahim Adjei, former Assistant Secretary at the Office of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has called on delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to vote for former Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, describing him as the leader best positioned to unite the party and win the 2028 general elections.
Speaking on Breakfast Daily on Channel One TV on Monday, January 26, Mr Adjei said the NPP needs a leader with national appeal and the capacity to lead the party back to victory.
“I am sure NPP delegates will advise themselves, and I trust in the maturity, vision, sacrifice, and wherewithal of the delegates and the party at large, that they will choose the leader who best represents us, who has national appeal, and who can win in 2028. And that person is Dr Mahamudu Bawumia,” he said.
His comments come at a time when candidates vying for the NPP’s presidential nomination are intensifying their campaigns ahead of the party’s primaries, scheduled for January 31.
The NPP presidential primary is fiercely contested by former Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, Ken Ohene Agyapong; former Minister of Food and Agriculture and MP for Abetifi, Dr Byran Acheampong; former Vice-President and 2024 Presidential Candidate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia; former Minister of Education and MP for Bosomtwe, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, and former General Secretary of the NPP, Kwabena Agyei Agyepong.
