Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, a former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has formally entered the race in the selection of flagbearer for the NPP for Election 2028.
This is the third time Mr Agyepong is entering the race.
He made the announcement at a press conference in Accra on Tuesday, July 29, 2025.
Mr Agyepong described himself as the figure best suited to unite the NPP and renew its credibility among voters.
He urged party delegates to look beyond inducements and reject what he described as the creeping monetisation of internal political processes. “Politics belongs to the grassroots, not to the entitled few,” he said.
“Let us not weigh down this party any further with a choice that will require continuous reconciliation and healing. With me, Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, we chart a path to unity and genuine renewal.”, he added.
Mr Agyepong called for a campaign grounded in integrity, urging party members to embrace “a pair of clean hands, a clear mind, and a compassionate heart” in their selection of a flagbearer.
Mr Agyepong invited former Trade Minister Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen to rejoin the NPP, stating that “the NPP was built on sacrifice, not privilege.”
