Nandaya Yaw Stanley, the Member of Parliament-elect for Wulensi, has clarified that his decision to run as an independent candidate did not mean he forfeited his allegiance to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
In an interview on Point of View on Channel One TV on Monday, December 23, Stanley emphasised that his independent candidature was a response to the people’s will in his constituency.
“Going independent didn’t mean I forfeited the party or anything, No. it was the choice of the people. They voted me in primaries and that was an argument between me and the incumbent and the people called me back to contest.
“I had no other choice but to listen to the voice of the people and exactly what I did and they really voted for me,” Stanley stated.
He also noted that his constituents will decide whether he aligns with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) or the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the ninth parliament.
