Joshua Alabi, the Campaign Manager for John Dramani Mahama during the December 7 general elections, has described the resounding victory of his candidate and the National Democratic Congress (NDC), as a pivotal decision that aligns with the aspirations of Ghanaians.
Alabi emphasised that the electorate’s choice reflects their confidence in Mahama’s leadership and his vision to steer Ghana onto a path of sustainable growth and prosperity.
In an interview with TV3 Ghana, Joshua Alabi highlighted the qualities that make President-elect John Dramani Mahama uniquely suited to lead Ghana at this critical juncture.
According to Alabi, Mahama possesses a clear sense of purpose and an in-depth understanding of Ghana’s challenges and opportunities.
Alabi asserted that Mahama’s previous tenure as president, coupled with his time out of office, has afforded him a rare and valuable perspective.
“Mahama is very focused, and he knows exactly what he wants to do. He knows he was there, he was out, and he has come back, and that gave him the opportunity to do a thorough appraisal of his performance and also did another appraisal of what the New Patriotic Party (NPP) did and that assisted him to define exactly what he will do.
“And so I see a leader who will be better than he was, and he should be better than he was. I see him do something that the people will accept. He may not be in a position to solve all the problems, but when you set the foundation and you carry the people along and they understand where you are moving, they will go along with you.”
The victory of John Dramani Mahama was decisive, as he garnered 6,328,397 votes, amounting to 56.55 per cent of the valid ballots cast. This substantial margin placed him ahead of his closest contender, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia of the NPP, who received 4,657,304 votes, representing 41.61 per cent.
Joshua Alabi expressed his belief that this outcome underscores the people’s demand for inclusive and transformative leadership.
According to him, Mahama’s return to power is not merely a political comeback but a reaffirmation of his commitment to address the pressing issues facing the nation.
