The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament (MP) for Nkwanta-North, John Oti Kwabena Bless, has asked eligible voters in the constituency to retain him as their representative in the legislature come December 7.
Mr Bless said the development projects he had brought to the area for the 12 years he served as MP had brought improvement to the constituency and would be consolidated if he was given another term to serve the people.
He made the call at the launch of a retail campaign by the Bikpalib NDC members in the constituency in support of the candidature of John Mahama and the parliamentary candidate at Kpassa last Saturday.
"I have served as an MP of a government in power for four years and an opposition MP for eight years. You can all bear witness to the development projects I have brought to this area, ranging from educational infrastructure, healthcare, building of police stations, water projects, construction of roads, the extension of electricity to many communities and responding to the needs of many constituents.
"If you vote for me again and by the grace of God, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) led by John Mahama wins the elections on December 7, Nkwanta-North will have its fair share of development projects," he said.
Mr Bless, who is seeking a fourth term in Parliament, said it was disappointing that after eight years in power, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) had no meaningful legacy to show in Nkwanta-North.
"The NPP promised us one constituency, $1 million. They promise us one district, one factory, but where is the factory for Nkwanta-North? They declared many years of roads, but where are the roads in Nkwanta-North?
"Let us boot this failed government out of power and bring back John Mahama to work for us. I promise to serve you better when NDC wins power," he said.
Transformation agenda
The NDC MP said contrary to what he described as "scammed leadership," the next NDC government would make judicious use of public resources in the interest of all Ghanaians.
He added that the next phase of his leadership as an MP would focus on building quality human resources in Nkwanta-North through education support initiatives, more investment in healthcare infrastructure and supporting local businesses to thrive.
The Nkwanta-North Constituency Vice-Chairman of the NDC, Yagban Olu, who spearheaded the launch of the retail campaign, said the December 7 polls was a context between truth and lies and the only choice the people ought to make was to "sack the NPP from the seat."
"In Nkwanta-North here, we all know that our parliamentary candidate is more credible than the other contenders. He does not deceive people; he does not promise and fail; he is modest in what he does and we need him to get the development we need," he said.
