He explained that the government was performing creditably and there was the need for members, supporters and sympathisers to remain focused, steadfast and united for the electorates to have confidence and trustin the government for re-election in 2024.

“Though the government has performed creditably, it is unfortunate some members and supporters are not touting the achievements of the party enough to the electorates and the citizenry as a whole, particularly at the grassroots to enable the voter population to make informed decisions to vote for the NPP in Election 2024,” Mr Mensah stressed.

“We cannot repeat the mistakes which nearly caused us dearly in the 2020elections since Election 2024 is close, and we must work harder to avoid complacency which will be politically-suicidal for us so unity within the rank and file of the party remain crucial at the time the party is preparing to hold its internal elections,” Mr Mensah cautioned.

He appealed to aspirants and their followers to be decorous in their political campaigns to guard against tendencies that could divide the party as a strong party preparing for an election battle and stressed that “there is the need for everybody to guard against tendencies that can put our peace, unity and cohesion in danger and consequently narrow our fortunes in breaking the eight-year electoral jinx”.

Mr Mensah, a former regional organiser of the NPP in the then Brong-Ahafo Region, suggested ministerial reshuffle within the government if the party was truly determined to break the eight-year political party cycle because the performance of some of the ministers of state and government appointees were unsatisfactory, thereby making the government unpopular.

He reiterated that the party was committed and determined to break the eight-year cycle and appointees whose performance could narrow the fortunes of the party in Election 2024 ought to be dropped and the government must ensure all appointees aspiring for positions in the party stepped down immediately.

“It is glaring many of the appointee aspirants are working to achieve their selfish political desires at the expense of the government’s progressiveness, partly due to sterling contributions of some appointees, who are ever ready to be patriotic and sacrifice whatever they have for the country,” Mr Mensah alleged.

He also highlighted significant policies,programmes and social interventions of the government including the digitisation and the Ghana Beyond Aid agendas as laudable which had the potential to propel the nation into middle-income status.
