THE Member of Parliament (MP) for Ho Central, Benjamin Kpodo, who is seeking a third term, has appealed to the constituents to discard the apathy they displayed in the last general election and come out in their numbers to vote for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in 2020.
“We need to unseat the government of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to continue the development projects we initiated not only in the constituency but in the whole region,” he stressed.
Mr. Kpodo made the appeal at a routine meeting with women of Ho-Hliha.
He noted that the blockade on most roads and other infrastructural projects in the Volta Region by the NPP bore enough testimony to the lack of interest in the region by the current government.
“Is also a clear indication that the decision of many NDC supporters in the region not to take part in the last elections was a huge mistake,” Mr. Kpodo added.
The MP explained that his decision to contest the seat again was to enable him to consolidate the various development projects he helped to initiate, especially the 19-kilometre Ho-Kpenoe-Takla-Tokokoe road.
He touched on the double track system in the senior high schools (SHS) and stated that would be one of the issues the NDC would change on its return to power.
“We need to put up more classrooms in place before implementing a free SHS programme and that is why the NDC began building day senior high schools across the country but they (NPP) did not see the vision in that, so they stopped the projects,” the MP said.
Mr. Kpodo later presented 30 pieces of plastic chairs to the women for use at their meetings.
A spokesman of the Ho-Hliha women, Madam Enyonam Lemgo expressed gratitude to the MP for the gesture and urged him to hold more frequent meetings with them to be abreast “with the situation on the ground”.
