Members of the Sene East District Assembly in the Brong-Ahafo Region, on Monday failed to endorse the President Nominee, Mr Abraham Mbanye as the District Chief Executive.
The Electoral Commission (EC) had to reschedule the elections, when Mr Mbanye could not obtain the two thirds of votes of the 27-member assembly, after two rounds of voting at Kajaji. Mr Kwaku Asomah-Cheremeh, the Regional Minister, has earlier appealed to the assembly members to confirm the President’s nominee.
But, Mr Mbanye secured only 16 votes in the first round, and 17 votes in the second round of voting. The situation was however different at Sene West District, as the assembly members approved the President’s nominee, Mr John Nyarba overwhelmingly.
He obtained 100 per cent votes of the 28-member assembly in the election, which was conducted and supervised by the EC at Kwame-Danso. Mr Nyarba thanked the assembly members for his endorsement and gave the assurance that he would work with all of them for the rapid development of the District.
