President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, and the First Lady, Rebecca, on Saturday joined hundreds of mourners at the final funeral rites of the late Mrs Bridget Kyerematen-Darko, at the Jubilee Park, Kumasi.
Also present was former President John Agyekum Kufour, Ministers of State, Members of Parliament (MPs), as well as traditional authorities, the clergy and technocrats.
The others included; regional and national executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), eminent politicians, representatives of corporate institutions and a cross section of the public.
The deceased, 58, a biological sister of the Trade and Industry Minister, Mr Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, died on January 10, this year, following a gas explosion in Accra of which she was a victim.
Her body was laid to rest at the Donuaso Royal Family Cemetery in the Ejisu-Juaben Municipality. President Nana Akufo-Addo on behalf of the First Family, donated GHC10, 000.00 to the bereaved family, while former President Kufour, the NPP, and well-wishers also made donations ranging from GHC1, 000.00 to GHC30, 000.00.
The bereaved family was also presented with drinks as the mourners took turns to pay tribute to the deceased.Security personnel had a hectic time controlling the teeming crowd who wanted to catch a glimpse of the President, clad in black, as he arrived, in the accompany of his wife, Rebecca.
Earlier, the First Family, as well as the Senior Minister, Mr Yaw Osafo-Maafo, Chief of Staff, Akosua Osei Opare, and Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr Simon Osei-Mensah joined other Ministers of State and MPs, and a cross-section of politicians to express their condolences to Mr Maxwell Kofi Jumah, former Deputy Interior Minister and Mayor Kumasi, whose late father was laid to rest at Okyerekrom in the Region.
