Speaking in an interview with the Ghanaian Times in Accra yesterday, the Deputy General Secretary of the NDC, Koku Anyidoho assured that the NDC would remain a “very responsible opposition”.

He therefore urged the incoming New Patriotic Party (NPP) government to fulfill its side of the bargain by delivering on its campaign promises.

“It is our hope and prayer that the incoming president leads a peaceful Ghana, just as the late President John Evans Atta Mills and John Mahama did in 2009 and 2013 by not go hacking members of the NPP,” he said.

“It is also our hope and prayer that the NPP stayed committed to providing the one village – one dam; one factory – one district, one million dollars for each constituency, reduction in electricity and water tariffs and other promises,” Mr. Anyindoho stated.

he Deputy General Secretary said even though the law should be applied to the letter, he however cautioned against political intimidation, witch-hunting, and harassment of the NDC members by the incoming NPP administration.

Mr. Anyindoho commended President Mahama for conceding defeat in the December 7 elections, adding that the gesture had deepened Ghana’s democratic dispension.

He said Ghana’s democracy had risen to a much higher pedestal because of NDC’s demonstrable commitment to peace and tolerance of dissenting views of other members of the political divide.

He thanked Ghanaians for their continuous support to the NDC for past eight years, adding that the NDC would always serve the interest of Ghanaians.
