The Opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has postponed its manifesto launch to October 9, in Accra according to the acting General Secretary and the National Organiser, John Boadu.
The launch was initially announced to take place at the Tamale Sports Stadium in the Northern Region on October 8.
However, speaking on an Accra based radio station, Mr. Boadu said the change was as a result of the impending World Cup qualifying match between the Black Stars of Ghana and Uganda at the Tamale Sports Stadium.
According to him, there had been talks with the officials of the Ghana Football Association, but it had not yielded the needed result, culminating to change in the earlier date.
The initial venue was the Tamale Sports Stadium, where the NPP held its national delegates congress, and the party had said the choice of Tamale was to maximize the party’s electoral fortunes in the Northern Region on December 7.
It also said the NPP presidential nominee, Nana Akufo-Addo’s successful campaign tour of the Northern Region necessitated the choice of Tamale.
