I was hopeful when I joined the Challenge 4; seeing the number on the day of the interviews, I lost a little bit of that hope but today I stand tall with my passport, air ticket and everything I need to join the Master programme in International Business at the Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen" those were the words of Prince Anyetei Adjei, winner Challenge 4 when our team caught up with him at his Pre-departure briefing.
The Challenge 4, an initiative of the British Council and brought to you by Tigo, started with 2500 young graduates from tertiary institutions vying for a full board post graduate scholarship from the Robert Gordon University. 12 lucky and smart young people earned the place as finalists of the competition.
After 13 weeks of task implementations, trainings, entertainment and evictions, four (4) contestants emerged at the final showdown where Prince in his usual confident composure stole the show with splendid delivering of his presentations on the 'impact of £100,000 on a deprived community' and answering the numerous tough questions from the Challenge Scholarship Board.
Presenting the award, the Country Director of the British Council congratulated Prince on the feat he had achieved and reminded him of the league of winners he has joined. Jojo Chartei Quansah, Joseph Opoku, Naa Ayeley Komey and Eric Frempong Amponsah are the winners of the previous seasons of the educational reality TV Show.
The Challenge seeks to encourage and reward academic excellence, creativity and a passion for continuous professional and leadership development in the youth of Ghana. The winners of this competition win full scholarships to study for Post Graduate Degrees in reputable universities in the UK.
Prince Anyetei Adjei departs for the UK in a few days to start his study and he has this to say, "I can't show appreciation enough to Tigo, the British Council, and GHOne for putting this competition together to give opportunity to young people like me in Ghana to develop ourselves. You can give someone money and all the riches of the earth but It would not be as much as giving the one education. I encourage all young people to take advantage of this opportunity to develop themselves, build contacts and above all get to live in another country"
In an interview after the send off dinner on Friday 11th January, 2013, Linda Narh, the brand communications Manager of Tigo Ghana said "Tigo is indeed honored to be the main sponsor of this prestigious educative and innovative programme for the past four years. As a brand that seeks to put smiles on the faces of many, this platform is one of the many ways to achieve that. Tigo wishes Prince Anyetei Adjei the best in all his endeavours and we encourage other graduates to take advantage of such opportunities when it is comes their way. Tigo will continue to put amazing smiles on your faces. Smile. you've got Tigo".
