The first ever Tigo Fire Race is set to take place at Tamale in the Northern region this Saturday, December 1, 2012.
The 42.2km race is part of activities marking this year's Fire Festival of the chiefs and people of Tamale. It will feature racing enthusiasts from within and around the Tamale metropolis.
The race which is scheduled to start at the Jubilee Park, will use the 'scattered wave start' format which allows a second batch of runners forming the women's division, to start 30 minutes after the male marathon takes off.
Areas the runners will be covering will include the Nyohin roundabout, Lamashegu Industrial area and finally back to the Jubilee Park.
Commenting on Tigo's association with the event, Tenu Awoonor, Head of Marketing said: 'We want to introduce a different dimension to the Fire festival by birthing an event that the people can always look forward to. This is because we at Tigo understand their need to have fun, to compete, win and exercise while doing so.As an innovative and fun brand, Tigo is happy to be associated with the Fire race."
