The ancient town of Odumase Krobo was thrown into excitement when the popular 'Tigo Festival Train' arrived during this year's Ngmayem festival held from October 25th to 27th, 2012.
Thousands of people from the town and its surrounding communities thronged the Laasi Park to participate in the most thrilling live musical concert to ever hit the town.
During the festival, Tigo Ghana joined the people of Odumase Krobo in various activities including a health walk through some principal streets of the twin municipality. The highlight of the festival was the now famed Tigo Festival Train.
The Tigo Festival Train which featured many celebrated artistes in the country had the audience dancing and singing along as the artistes took their turns to perform.
Tigo also made a cash donation of GHC 3000 and presented branded Tigo souvenirs to the Traditional Council.
The Special Guest of Honour was His Excellency the president of Ghana, John Mahama. He advised the people of the town and the general public to ensure peaceful polls before, during and after the December elections.
Commenting on the festival and other activities, Tenu Awoonor, Head of Marketing at Tigo, expressed delight at the level of enthusiasm attached to Tigo's participation, particularly the Festival Train.
He also introduced Tigo's new brand positioning of 'Smile, You've got Tigo' to the people and encouraged them to stick with the network that brings fun and excitement to the traditional area and makes them Smile.
The Ngmayem festival is celebrated annually to mark the traditional harvest and thanksgiving ceremonies of the Krobo people. It is celebrated in Krobo Odumase and Somanya, all in the Eastern Region.
This year's festival attracted natives from all over the world who were clad in their traditional attire with matching beads and ornaments.
