Airtel Ghana continues to fulfill its promise to give back to the society through its corporate social responsibility initiatives. The company earlier this year aired on Ghanaian TV 13 compelling episodes of its flagship CSR programme, Touching Lives. Flowing from the episodes, Airtel has embarked on a donation spree to beneficiaries aimed at impacting their lives. One of the beneficiaries to receive the support promised by Airtel Ghana is the family of 14 year old Kelvin Ansah.
Kelvin had written to Airtel Ghana asking the company to help support his parents and his education as well. CSR Manager of Airtel Ghana, Maame Dufie Cudjoe explains that education remains a top priority for support of Airtel. "We believe in supporting people, especially young ones to gain education; to us, it is the best gift a young person can get, that is why we found Kelvin's story very compelling and offered to help", she said.
Kelvin Ansah, a student of the Agape School Complex at Ashiaman Lebanon received a scholarship, laptop with full Airtel internet connection, a bicycle and books. His parents also received a two year rent, camera and accessories for his father, Albert Ansah to work with, and clothes for the family. Maame Dufie adds that" soon after Kelvin's episode was shown on national TV, we had some people come to donate books to him, and to us it is one of the essences of Touching Lives, which is, sparking the interest of the society to do a little more for each other in an inter-dependent society such as ours", she said.
Kelvin Ansah said he was thrilled to own a laptop at his age. "I know I can use it for a lot of things that will help me do well in school", he said. He thanked Airtel for the smile brought to his parents and siblings stressing that 'God bless you'.
