Airtel Ghana demonstrated its commitment to provide affordable products and services to all Ghanaians by giving Airtel phones and SIM cards with 50 cedis airtime and a hamper of baby care essentials to mothers who gave birth in the first 48 hours of Airtel’s launch in Ghana
The initiative focused on extending love and thoughtfulness to the newborns and their mothers. It also sought to relieve the parents of the initial burden of providing these essential items as well as to give the babies a comfortable start in life.
The Airtel team visited the maternity unit at the Eastern Regional Hospital, Koforidua to demonstrate that mobile telephony can be made accessible to all to speed up the social and economic development of the people and the nation at large.
Speaking on behalf of the Human Resource Manager for Airtel Ghana, Maame Dufie Cudjoe (CSR Coordinator) said “we are driven by our promise to bring freedom to Ghanaians through mobile communication; this gesture is therefore a demonstration of what we preach”.
The Airtel team was led by Antoinette Atuah, PR & Events Specialist and Maame Dufie Cudjoe, CSR Coordinator while that of the hospital was led by the matron of the Maternity Ward Ms. Mary Afrah.
One of the beneficiaries said “I am utterly amazed at the content of the package and the timeliness of the gestures. It could not have come at a better time. We are most grateful for your thoughtfulness”.
