2010 Accra Post Copenhagen Follow Up Programme
Climate change is the biggest challenge currently
facing the world and its impact will affect us
all. Mankinds role in contributing to climate
change is now indisputable. However we also know
that answers exist, or can be developed, if we are
ready to change our behaviours and invest in
solutions.
The Government of Ghana, the World
Bank, the British Council and their partners (the
Consortium) recognise have formed a consortium to
run a series of projects; Post Copenhagen Follow
Up Programme, from September till January 2011 to
help tackle behavioural change towards climate
issues. On the 14th and 15th of September, the
Consortium, will train fifty (50) journalist from
a cross section of media houses, start work with
Faith leaders and young people to engage in
discourse and activities that offer Ghanaians the
best chance for meeting the climate change
challenge.
The Consortium will invite climate
experts, leading journalists from the UK and other
countries to work together with participants in
the various groups to develop ideas that can help
tackle climate change and to voice their opinions
to decision makers.
The expected programme
outputs are: A launch to outdoor the Consortium
and the Green Alert Newsletter on Tuesday 14th
September Training of 50 Journalists on 14th
September (afternoon),An evening with 200
CEOs and Policy Makers to talk about Clean
Development Mechanisms.
Interfaith Climate
communities projects Tree Planting And to top
it a selection of Five (5 ) journalists sponsored
to attend COP16 in Cancun, Mexico in December
2010.
