 First ever Chinese Film Festival held in Ghana
 Offers Chinese residents and the general public a treat to classic Chinese movies
Accra, 2nd September 2010: Ghana’s No. 1 quality entertainment home, Silverbird Cinemas has opened the first ever Festival of Chinese Films. The Festival, which opened on Thursday with a beautiful ceremony, is open to the public till Sunday, September 5, 2010 at the posh Silverbird cinemas located at the Accra Mall.
According to General Manager of Silverbird Ghana Limited, Albert Mensah, “Such initiatives are in line with our commitment to promoting cultures through quality entertainment. We did it with the Festival of Indian Films which turned out a huge success. We know Ghanaians love Chinese movies and bringing back to them all the classics is in the right direction to strengthen the already flourishing relations between Ghana and China. China is now one of the leading economies in the world and Silverbird is happy to be associated with this festival, knowing how big entertainment has become in Ghana and across the globe”.
With two movies showing each day, the cinemas continues to attract huge number of people to see great Chinese movies including Forever Enthralled (a biographical film of Mei Lanfang, King of Peking Opera) Ye Wen (Master of Kung-fu), Assembly, My Sunshine Lane (Hutong Days), Walking to School, Maimaiti's 2008, among others.
Organised by the Chinese Embassy in collaboration with Silverbird Ghana Limited, the festival is one of the major activities marking the 50th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Ghana and The People’s Republic of China.
