Liverpool Hope University has teamed up with the Ghana High Commission in the introduction of a brand new Scholarship programme aimed at providing Ghanaian students with unique study opportunities in England.
In addition to the existing benefits provided by the ‘Overseas Scholarship’ the ‘International Postgraduate Scholarship’ and the ‘Commonwealth Shared Scholarship for MA International Perspectives on Education’ that the University currently offers to all International students, two further scholarships will be offered. The ‘High Value Scholarship for Ghana’ is exclusively for Ghanaian students and will provide excellent financial incentives for students wishing to study for a Postgraduate Taught Programme at the University in the new academic year.
As part of the unique package on offer, the High Value Scholarship for Ghana will allow two Ghanaian students to receive full tuition fees, one for MSc Computer Science, and one for MA International Perspectives on Education to specialise in disability studies. The awards are worth £8,980 and £6,980 respectively.
Professor Bill Chambers, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Widening Participation) said: “Liverpool Hope University recognises the importance of its relationship with the government of Ghana, the Ghana High Commission in London, the Merseyside Ghanaian Association and its current and future Ghanaian students. In lieu of this relationship, and the ethos and values of the University, we are delighted to be introducing this new Scholarship to benefit future Ghanaian students.
The University has an active interest in Ghana and has a long established relationship with Merseyside Ghanaian Association. We welcome the opportunity to work in partnership with the Ghana High Commission to jointly share the benefits of experience and education with a wider Ghanaian audience.”
Award winners for the High Value Scholarship for Ghana will be selected by the Ghana High Commission and ratified by Liverpool Hope University.

Liverpool Hope University offer a range of Scholarships including:
The Overseas Scholarship (open to all International students): Overseas Scholarships are available to both undergraduate (Bachelors) and postgraduate (Masters) students who have achieved, on aggregate, first class marks in their previous education. For undergraduates, the award is worth up to £3,000 (that is £1,000 award per year subject o satisfactory academic progress); for postgraduates, the award is worth £1,000. The number of Overseas Scholarships available is unlimited.
International Postgraduate Scholarship (open to all International students): International Postgraduate Scholarships are offered to Postgraduate Taught (Masters) offer holders who have achieved high academics and can demonstrate high social and community involvement. The award is worth half the tuition fees (worth between £3,490 and £4,990 depending on the chosen course). The number of International Postgraduate Scholarships is limited to five per annum.
Commonwealth Shared Scholarship for MA International Perspectives on Education – September 2010 (open to students from Commonwealth countries): Provided by the Department for International Development and Liverpool Hope University, and administered by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission, this award is available for MA International Perspectives on Education for Sept 2010. Applicants must be from developing Commonwealth countries and fulfil the additional eligibility criteria as deemed in the CSS prospectus. The award is worth full tuition fees, return airfares and other allowances (funded by CSS) and monthly stipend (funded by Liverpool Hope University). The number available is one.
High Value Scholarship for Ghana – The ‘High Value Scholarship for Ghana’ is for two postgraduate taught Master students, one for MSc Computer Science and one for MA International Perspectives on Education. This award is for full tuition (worth between £6,980 and £8,980). This offer is open to two students for the 2010 intake.
