Delta has rolled out its new Fly Delta app for iPad and iPhone, adding new and enhanced functionality including a unique feature that lets passengers see through the bottom of the plane with their iPads.
The iPad "Glass Bottom Jet" feature allowed passengers to view the ground below in a unique way that includes maps, social networks and internet content while connected to the Internet on any of Delta's 800 Wi-Fi-equipped domestic U.S aircraft. The app also includes travel planning tools to book a trip, destination guides, flight check-in and an interactive trip map.
The launch of the app is part of the rollout of a significantly improved online and digital customer experience including the revamp of delta.com and revamped self-service kiosks now available at airports across the EMEA region.
Delta's New BusinessElite Wines Selection comes onboard in February
Delta's 2013 wine selection will appear in its BusinessElite cabin from February. The wines selected represent four continents and will provide Delta customers the opportunity to experience unique flavour profiles to pair with the BusinessElite menu that is currently in development by Chef Michelle Bernstein.
The new selections include wines from Italy, Chile, Spain, France, California, Australia, Portugal and South Africa and will be available on Delta flights in the spring. The BusinessElite selections undergo an annual evaluation by Delta's Master Sommelier Andrea Robinson, who evaluates and samples more than 1,600 wines from submissions worldwide.
Robinson considers the complexity and intensity of the wine, aesthetic details of the wine presentation and logistics such as the amount of production necessary to fulfill Delta's needs in her evaluation. A total of 22 labels were selected and will be profiled throughout the year.
Delta Expands World's Largest Wi-Fi-Equipped Fleet to Include International Aircraft
Delta will soon begin offering in-flight Internet service on its trans-Atlantic flights, a first for many trans-Atlantic customers. The expanded Wi-Fi service will use satellites to provide coverage internationally and will complement the existing air-to-ground service already provided by Gogo for aircraft flying within the domestic U.S.
The international service will use high-bandwidth Ku-band capacity satellites to provide global coverage. When complete in 2015, Delta will operate approximately 1,000 Wi-Fi-equipped aircraft in its worldwide fleet.
