Some customers of telecommunication firm, Airtel Ghana were in London on January 13 to watch the English Premier League game between Arsenal and Manchester City FC played at the Emirates Stadium. The trip which was facilitated by the London-based club forms part of the benefits emanating from the partnership agreement signed between Arsenal FC and Airtel.
Head of Corporate Communications of Airtel Ghana, Donald Gwira who led the team to London says following the signing of a partnership deal between the Airtel and Arsenal, Airtel decided to reward some of its loyal high valued clients and partners as well as customers with round-trips to watch games involving Arsenal FC at their stadium in London. "The partnership we have with Arsenal FC makes Airtel Ghana the official network operator of Arsenal in Ghana, and our plan is to ensure that our customers and stakeholders also benefit from this partnership. Going forward we will be seeing a number of these materialize in many different ways", Mr. Gwira said.
The team visited the Arsenal Museum located at the Emirates where they went through self-guided tours and came across the rich history of the English football giants. The tour also took them to the dressing rooms of Arsenal FC, player tunnel, as well as other sections of the stadium. As VIP guests of the team, they got to watch the game with Manchester City from the hospitality side of the stadium in addition to enjoying the other benefits that come with it.
Mr. Gwira disclosed that Airtel has identified football as one of the key platforms for communicating Airtel's core brand message and strengthening its brand equity. "Football, acts as a catalyst for Africans irrespective of tribe, culture or language, given its preeminent place as a strong passion of Africans; we are therefore pleased about our relationship with Arsenal FC, which is one of the best teams in the world", he added.
Airtel says it will continue making football one of the key drivers of its brand. It expects to fly out more customers to London to see Arsenal FC play at the Emirates.
