Two men were reported dead by Dutch police Sunday, a day after being attacked with automatic weapons in historic downtown Amsterdam.
Police said one of the men died at the scene of the crime. The second died later in hospital. Witnesses spoke of the men being shot through with bullets like a "sieve."
Several suspects shot at police as they fled the scene, though no further injuries were reported. A manhunt is on.
The victims were driving a vehicle described as a luxury four-wheel-drive vehicle with French licence plates. This vehicle was rammed by another vehicle Saturday night after being chased through the city.
When the two men stepped out of the four-wheel-drive, they were gunned down, reported witnesses.
Amsterdam has been the site of multiple shooting deaths this year, reported Dutch news agency ANP.
