Two armed robbers appeared before a circuit court at Fiapre near Sunyani for allegedly robbing a gas filling station manager at Asuakwa in the Sunyani East Municipality of over GHC8,000 being sales.
The pleas of Moses Letus and Michael Oteng Koranteng both drivers were not taken and remanded into prison custody to re-appear on October 16.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Mawunyo Nanegbe told the court presided over by Mr Benjamin Yaw Osei that in the evening of September 26 when the complainant was on his way home with one of his attendants Banabas Atambila, saw in his driving mirror that they were being trailed by a taxi.
The prosecutor said on entering his house two people wielding locally manufactured pistols attacked him and took away the money in a sack together with his traveling documents and other valuables.
ASP Nanegbe said one of the robbers fired a warning shot when the complainant’s son tried to struggle with the robbers and bolted in a waiting taxi cab.
He said the complainant reported the incident to the police and informed them that he saw the driver of the taxi conversing with Atambila at the filling station earlier in the day and he was arrested.
The prosecutor said during interrogation, Atambila mentioned the two accused persons as accomplices and the taxi was identified by the complainant as the same vehicle that trailed him before the robbery.
