Heavy snowfalls on Friday paralyzed traffic, delayed or cancelled flights and closed ports and highways in Romania.
According to the transportation ministry, as many as 17 domestic and international flights of the national air carrier Tarom were delayed.
The snow storm also forced Midia and Constanta South ports along the Black Sea to close on Friday morning. Ships and loading-unloading operations were suspended.
Cernavoda (A2) Highway, one of only two highways in the eastern European country, was closed on Friday morning, due to the blizzard, the ministry announced.
Several national roads in the southeastern and eastern counties were currently blocked because of the blizzard, the Police Info-traffic Center said.
According to meteorologists, the weather will continue to be cold and to snow in some areas.
The National Meteorology Administration announced Friday that temperatures would plunge to minus 20 Celsius on Monday night, but they
would start to rise to normal winter temperatures from Tuesday.
