Mr Yu Wenhze, Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, on Friday commended Ghana for her good leadership example in terms of her thriving democracy, peaceful transition of government and
stable environment for business opportunities.
Mr Yu said the maturity exhibited by both politicians and the general Ghanaian populace had earned the country great respect on the international front and urged the public to maintain the peaceful environment to ensure both socio-economic and cultural unity.
The Chinese Ambassador made the remarks when he paid a courtesy call on Nii Armah Ashietey, Greater Accra Regional Minister, at his office.
He congratulated Nii Ashietey on his assumption of office as the Regional Minister and pledged his country's support to ensure the development of the Region.
Mr Wenhze said the cordial relationship that had existed between the two countries since independence had led to successful completion of a number of programmes and projects including education, health and roads.
He called for maximum support and assistance from the Regional Coordinating Council (RC
C) to accomplish all its projects.
Nii Ashietey thanked the Ambassador for his enthusiasm in initiating development projects in Ghana.
He said Ghana's relationship with China had deepened during his tenure, citing instances where records from the Embassy showed a total of over 20,000 processed applications of Ghanaian business persons.
He said this was a clear indication of how committed China was to the issue of South-South cooperation.
Nii Ashietey said the government of Ghana was committed to ensuring quality education, health and development of infrastructure that would help improve the quality of life of the people.
He urged the Chinese government to explore areas such as the agricultural, fisheries, telecommunication and ICT sectors.
