A Circuit Court at Goaso in Brong Ahafo Region presided over by Mr Osei Kwame Gyamfi has sentenced Josephine Abenaa Minta, a 35 year-old woman to three years imprisonment for causing harm to Madam Akosua Birago a neighbour.
Josephine pleaded guilty.
Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Charles Arthur told the court that Madam Birago, a housewife and Josephine, a farmer resided at Fawohoyeden in Asunafo Municipality.
He said for some time they were at loggerheads and at about 1900 hours on April 12 this year, Madam Birago was conversing with Madam Grace Danso, mother of Josephine, suddenly Josephine became offended and poured hot water mixed with pepper on Madam Birago.
The prosecution said Madam Birago received burns on her body, a report was made to the police who arrested Josephine and after investigations charged with the offence.
In another development personal belongings worth thousands of Ghana cedis were burnt into ashes when fire gutted a seven bedroom house at Mim in Asunafo Municipality.
Speaking to Ghana News Agency (GNA) at the scene, Mr Kofi Gyimah, landlord, said the fire started from a room through the ceiling but efforts to quench the fire by some residents yielded no positive results.
He said when fire service personnel from Goaso and Ayum Forest Products arrived after a distress call, the fire had reached dangerous dimensions.
Mr Gyamfi said the tenants were staying with relatives and friends and attributed the cause of the fire to an electrical fault.
However, no casualty was recorded.
Meanwhile, Mr Dominic Mensah, Asunafo Municipal Coordinator of National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) and some officers visited the victims and assured them of assistance to rehabilitate them.
