The Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin North, Mr Kennedy Agyapong, has appealed to well to do citizens to remember their roots especially their alma maters and contribute towards their development.
He said most successful people currently in high positions started their education from deprived schools and it would be good for them to one day assist such schools.
Mr Agyapong made the appeal at the launching of the 60th anniversary celebration of his alma mater, Winneba Senior High School (Winnesec) on Saturday where he promised the school a vehicle for utility service.
He urged children from poor families in various institutions to stay focus on what they hope to achieve in future.
Mr Agyapong who according to him, started his education in a deprived school at Assin Dompim in the Assin North district, urged the students to make the sky their limit despite the conditions in the schools.
He said success was achieved through determination, hard work and perseverance, and therefore urged the student not to waste time on unprofitable ventures.
As his contribution towards the promotion of education in the region and also to address some of the needs of the school, the MP pledged to build a-three storey dormitory for boys early next year.
He also issued a cheque for 5000 Ghana Cedis for teachers of the school, in appreciation for their dedication to duty that had led to the improvement of academic performance of students of the school.
