The South Akim Rural Bank, in collaboration with the Zongo Youth Foundation, a non-governmental organisation (NGO) at Adoagyiri, has organized a workshop on management for 20 women's group and youth clubs at Zongo near Adoagyiri in the Akuapem South District.
They were taken through basic banking practices to inculcate the culture of saving in them and to encourage them to do business with banks.
Abdul Muhaimin Yakubu, the Executive Director of the NGO, said the aim of the workshop was to equip the group with knowledge to manage their businesses to minimize losses and ensure maximum profit.
He said the NGO undertook a study in the area and noticed that some women groups' businesses had folded up, hence the need for the workshop.
Alhaji Adam Alhassan, Credit Officer of the bank, said the bank had outdoored a micro-finance programme, the facility would benefit groups and urged them to open savings with the bank to take advantage of it.
He said the facility, which was intended for low-income earners, attracts low interest rate and terms of payment were flexible and they did not need any security to contract loan under it.
Abdul Mutalabi Adam, the Assembly member for the area, expressed appreciation to the NGO in its efforts to improve the lot of the people in the area.
He appealed to the people to open account with the bank to take advantage of facilities the bank has for its customers.
