One of the biggest calendar events in Cape Town takes place this weekend.
The much-anticipated Cape Town Pride Parade and Mardi Gras will be lighting up the streets this on Saturday, February 28.
This event will bring an end to a month-long celebration of diversity, inclusion, and raising awareness of the LGBTIQ+ community.
The 2026 Cape Town Pride Festival runs from February 5 to March 1, 2026.
It features various events throughout the month, culminating in the main Cape Town Pride Parade and Mardi Gras on Saturday, February 28, 2026, in Green Point.
This festival attracts thousands of people every year and is not just open to the LGBTIQ+ community but to all.
The theme for Cape Town Pride 2026 is ‘I Am Because We Are’, replicating the uniquely South African values of Ubuntu.

These are the road closures that will be implemented.
The parade, which has been organised by Outreach Africa, will start in De Waterkant’s Alfred Street at 11am.
The procession will make its way to the Green Point underpass via Somerset Road.
The City of Cape Town has urged motorists to be aware of road closures that will be impacted during the event.
Prestwich Street, between Chiappini and Napier Streets, as well as Alfred Street, between Somerset Road and Prestwich Street, will be closed from 10.50am to 12pm.
There will be no stopping restrictions in place during this time at the start of the parade and around Somerset Road.
