The Chief Executive Officer of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), Julius Neequaye Kotey, has clarified that the official price for a DV vehicle registration plate is GH¢417.25.
His clarification follows reports that some intermediaries, commonly referred to as “goro boys and girls,” are selling DV plates at prices ranging between GH¢1,300 and GH¢1,500, a situation that has sparked frustration among affected vehicle owners.
In a Facebook post on February 4, Mr Kotey explained that the DVLA currently restricts the issuance of DV plates to registered car dealerships and garages.
“The official price for a DV plate is GH¢417.25. Please note that the DVLA currently restricts issuance exclusively to registered car dealerships and garages,” he stated.
He said the restriction is part of measures to regulate the issuance process and curb unauthorised activities surrounding DV plate acquisition.
