The Presidential Elections Committee (PEC) of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has said it is working closely with the party’s flag bearer hopefuls to implement a rigorous and transparent album (voters register) validation and verification process ahead of the January 31, 2026 presidential primary.
“It is therefore regrettable for any individual or group to suggest that the party's album is fictitious or without credibility,” a statement signed and issued by the PEC Chairman, Joseph Osei-Owusu, said.
The committee assured all stakeholders that it was committed to producing a credible, verifiable and trustworthy register for the January 31, 2026 presidential primary.
"We are unwavering in our commitment to producing a credible, verifiable and trustworthy voters register and to ensuring that the upcoming presidential primary is conducted in a free, fair and transparent manner," It reiterated.
The Osei=Owusu-led committee said it had observed with concern some commentaries circulating across electronic and social media platforms concerning the voters register for the party’s presidential election which risked creating misunderstandings among the general public and the party’s rank and file.
The committee reaffirmed that it had maintained an open, collaborative and consultative process with all the party’s presidential candidates while engagements had been held not only with the candidates and their representatives but also with relevant stakeholders committed to safeguarding the integrity of the party's electoral process.
To ensure transparency and fairness, the committee said it had duly shared the provisional voters register with all the candidates.
This, it said, was to afford them the opportunity to thoroughly review the document, identify potential inaccuracies and support the committee in effecting timely corrections.
"The practice of releasing a provisional voters list prior to an election mirrors established national electoral norms," the statement read.
"Such publication serves a critical purpose: it allows individuals whose names may have been inadvertently omitted to raise objections for rectification, and permits the public to draw attention to errors, duplications or ineligible entries,” It added.
The PEC also acknowledged the constructive feedback received from individuals, groups and campaign teams of some aspirants, and urged stakeholders to continue sending their concerns and observations to the committee.
"We continue to welcome submissions, concerns and observations from all interested stakeholders," the statement added.
