The Founder of the Paramount House Chapel International, Prophet Albert Asihene-Arjarquah, has called on Christians to help in the fight against illegal mining (galamsey).
That, he stated, would sustain the ecology and maintain the purity of Ghana’s water bodies, which had been polluted for years.
Prophet Asihene-Arjarquah made the call during the celebration of the church's one-year anniversary at Koforidua in the Eastern Region.
The event with the theme: "Celebrating The Understanding Grace and Mercies of the Lord was attended by members of the congregation, Clergymen, as well as traditional rulers led by the Omanhene, Daasebre Kwaku Boateng III, and queenmothers from New Juaben.
Prophet Asihene-Arjarquah indicated that it was important to preserve the ecology of Ghana and maintain the purity of its water bodies.
He said that would only be done by stopping the activities of illegal miners (galamseyers).
Drum home
The Founder of the church explained that if church leaders were able to drum home the negative effects of illegal mining to their congregants, that would go a long way toward dealing with the issue.
"I'm very much aware that some church members across the mining communities are also involved in illegal mining but if the pastors are able to base their teaching on 'galamsey', it will catch up with the members to desist from such acts.”
"If the environment and water bodies become pure, Ghana will be the best place to attract people into the country", Prophet Asihene-Arjarquah told the congregation.
Prophet Asihene-Arjarquah stated that there were other alternative forms of earning livelihoods apart from galamsey, such as farming and fish farming.
Projects
He stated that it was in that direction that the Paramount House Chapel International had gone into fish farming, with the plan of going into general farming as soon as possible.

Church members in Koforidua
Touching on the future plans of the church Prophet Asihene-Arjarquah said it had drawn up a 12-year strategic plan to undertake certain projects.
Some of the projects Prophet Asihene-Arjarquah mentioned were the construction of an ultra-modern church office, a school ranging from the Montessori to the junior high school level to nurture children in both academic excellence and Christian values, a bible college for prophets in both spiritual and academic development.
For his part, the Former President of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council, Rev. Professor Paul Frimpong Manso, who was the guest speaker, cautioned the youth to abstain from drug abuse and other harmful substances since that would spoil their future.
He urged parents and guardians, as well as the clergy, to guide the youth to do away with such bad traits.
The Omanhene of the New Juaben Traditional Area, Daasebre Kwaku Boateng III, said he was happy that the Paramount House Chapel International had grown to be a light to the communities within the paramountcy.
