Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams, Founder and General Overseer of Action Chapel International (ACI), has stressed the pivotal role of justice in ensuring lasting peace in Ghana.
Speaking at the National Prayer and Thanksgiving Service at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) on Sunday, Duncan-Williams emphasized that peace goes beyond the mere absence of war and conflict, asserting that true peace is rooted in justice.
“Justice is one of the things that secures peace, and where there is no justice, there will never be peace,” he declared. “It is said and believed that the absence of war and conflict is not the sign of peace. The presence of justice is what guarantees peace. So where there’s no justice, there can never be peace.”
He called on President John Dramani Mahama and all Ghanaians to prioritize justice in their actions and decisions, as it is the cornerstone of a harmonious and equitable society.
Duncan-Williams elaborated on the concept of justice, highlighting its dual role in rewarding good deeds and addressing wrongdoing.
“The meaning of justice is rewarding people for the good done and punishing people for the evil done,” he explained, emphasizing the need for fairness in governance and society.
His remarks resonated as a call to action for leaders and citizens alike to uphold justice as a means to foster national peace and unity.
