Christians around the world and in Ghana gathered to celebrate Christmas Day with a renewed call for peace and goodwill.
The day, marking the birth of Jesus Christ, was filled with messages of hope, love, and unity, reflecting the true spirit of the season.
Rev Fitzgerald Odonkor, Head Pastor of Harvest Chapel International in an interview with Citi News Umaru Sanda Amadu, emphasised the significance of Christmas in his sermon.
“I believe that the significance of Christmas for the world and our nation also is what Christmas stands for. Christmas represents goodwill because on Christmas day God shows us His goodness. Christmas also represents peace because the Bible says that Jesus is the prince of peace,” he stated.
Rev Odonkor encouraged the congregation to use the occasion as an opportunity to reconnect with one another, resolve conflicts, and be aware of God’s presence.
“The relevance is that it should be an opportunity for us to reconnect to each other, barriers coming down, quarrels being laid to rest and, importantly, for us to be aware of God’s presence. When He sent Jesus Christ, it was a fulfilment of His promise to mankind. So let us remember that God is faithful. No matter how long it takes, He will fulfil His promises to us as individuals and as families also,” he added.
Diana Koranteng, a member of Harvest Chapel, shared her reflections on the importance of the day.
“It reminds me of the birth of our saviour and how much God loved us that he gave us his only begotten son to save us from our sins,” she said.
