Nana Oduro Poku, Chief of Dromankese in Nkoranza District, has called on his people to take advantage of the capitation grant policy and enroll their children in school.
Speaking at the close of the area's "Munufie" yam festival at Dromankese, the chief said the policy was a great opportunity for all parents, including the financially weak and the vulnerable, to allow their children to benefit from the policy.
He appealed to opinion leaders including assembly members, unit committees, school management committees, parent/teacher associations and religious leaders to educate the people to enroll children in school.
Nana Poku, who is the Headmaster of Afrancho Junior Secondary School in the Kwabre District of the Ashanti Region, urged parents to respect and support teachers to instill discipline in schools and train the children.
The chief called on teachers in the area to step up efforts at improving the standard of education in the community.
"Parents should minimize their huge expenses on funerals, expensive clothing, luxuries and other social activities and rather invest their resources in the education of their children".
The chief commended the MP for Nkoranza North, Mr. Eric Amoateng, for providing a grader machine to rehabilitate roads in the town.
Nana Adom Baabea, the Queenmother, urged parents to ensure that their daughters were initiated under puberty rites before marriage and warned that the traditional authorities would deal with violators.
