Leading giants in the financial sector have converged in Accra for the 3day Swift African Regional Conference. The 26th edition of the Conference is on the theme “Enabling the digital economy” The conference among other things discussed the future of banking in Africa with focus on digitization.
Speaker after speaker highlighted the importance digitization plays in the financial sector. This they believe will keep banks in business in the future.
Topics discussed range from; Driving change in Africa’s financial industry, Tools that the financial industry is developing to deliver change to customers and Risk Management.
The 10 participants from GCB were drawn from International Trade and payment, Compliance, S&IT, Finance and Corporate Affairs Departments. The insightful topics discussed at the conference came at a time when GCB is pushing an intensive digital banking agenda.
Head of Swift Unit, GCB Bank, Mr. Andrews Lamptey, says this year’s conference has been a real eye opener as topics bordering on Cyber Security and Compliance have been very revealing to help banks adopt best practices and solutions.

GCB Bank joined SWIFT in 1978 making it the first bank in Ghana to be a member, 41 years ago.
The African Regional Conference is an annual event that brings together global experts in the financial, payment and settlement space to discuss issues of interest.
This year’s event brought together over 600 delegates from 45 countries and GCB was a co-sponsor.
