The Reverend Dr Yaw Frimpong-Manso, Moderator-elect of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana on Friday cut the sod for work to begin on a 6.6 billion-cedi hostel complex at the Ramseyer Vocational Institute at Kyirapatre near Kumasi.
The construction of the hostel would be in phases and the first phase would comprise a retreat centre, a conference hall and two dormitories at a cost of 1.6 billion cedis.
The project is being financed by the Ashanti Presbytery Women's Fellowship.
Rev Dr Frimpong-Manso commended the women's fellowship for its courage in undertaking the project and called on other fellowships in the church to emulate its example.
Mrs Victoria P. Darkwa, President of the Fellowship, said the fellowship had 7,000 blocks for the commencement of the project.
She said the provision of the hostel complex would solve the accommodation problems when the fellowship organises retreats and crusades.
Madam Hanna Brenya, vice-president of the Fellowship, appealed to the church to assist it to complete the project on time.
