Nana Tweneboah-Boateng who until his demise on February 27, 2018 was the Senior Technical Advisor to the Trade Ministry and helped the drive of Government’s Industrial Transformation Agenda.

The mortal remains of Nana Tweneboah-Boateng, who is the Sanaahene of Akyem Anyinam Traditional Area in the Eastern Region was laid to rest at the Oyoko Royal Family mausoleum at the weekend.

Mr Kyerematen, in a tribute described Nana Tweneboah-Boateng as “a man of many parts, a friend for all seasons, loyal, trusted friend, and a brother”. He said the two met in the early 1970s as fellow students of the University of Ghana and struck a friendship based on mutual respect and admiration, which blossomed over the years into a very fruitful and constructive professional collaboration, in pursuit of shared faith and hope in Ghana and Africa.

The Trade Minister said: “Nana was my de facto Chief of Staff in my professional career. I took him everywhere my professional life landed me either by chance or design, both in Ghana and abroad. “He was a great asset to the work of the Ministry, coordinating the work of technical teams to deliver some of Government’s major flagship projects including but not limited to the ‘One District One Factor, initiative”.

Mr Kyeremanten said: “as a man of the people, Nana would use a combination of native wisdom, bullying tactics, and personal charm to get the job done. Nana was a man of strong convictions so full of optimism that he was not easily deterred or broken by the storms of work life.

“His faith in God and country and love for his family were what seemed to nourish his boundless energy and perseverance. He had a positive attitude and work ethic, which suggested that nothing good is impossible”.

The Ministry of Trade also acknowledged the over 15 years working experiences with Nana, especially his contribution towards the development of the Textile and Garment sector. Among the high profile personalities who attended the funeral were President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Ministers of State, large contingent of Traditional Rulers including the Royal Ameyibor Family of Peki Avetile led by Togbe Victor Ameyibor, Business Executives, and New Patriotic Party members.

Other dignitaries included Chief Executive Officers from the various MMDAs, representatives from the various political parties, delegation from the Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Trade, EMPRETEC Ghana, and Religious leaders led by led by the Reverend Dr Okoe Abbey, Acting Moderator, Presbyterian Church of Ghana.

In a tribute to the departing son, 97 year old man, Adinkraba Karikari Appau Boateng, said “Emmanuel Kofi Tweneboah-Boateng had the amazing gift of making every person he comes into contact with instantly comfortable through the show of love, charisma, and generosity”.

The widow, Mrs Margret Tweneboah-Boateng (Nee Margret Ameyibor) recounted, “I met my husband in 1997 when I went to Empretec Ghana for assistance to run my business Excel Industries Limited, which was expanding beyond my managerial capacities.

“Empretec came to my aid. After a few weeks, Nana called to see how I was faring and then followed up to Excel office and encouraged me to work hard. Nana’s continuous visits to my company resulted in a beautiful relationship”.

According to Mrs Tweneboah-Boateng “in 1998, Nana proposed to me, I replied in the negative and his response was, ‘Wo nsuro Nyame,’ meaning ‘You don’t fear God? After sometime Nana went to see my family and we got married”.

Mrs Tweneboah-Boateng, who is the Chief Executive Officer of Excel Industries Limited, described Nana as a Counsellor, Director, Consultant, Accountant, father and friend.     The children, Mrs Abena Osei-Asare nee Tweneboah-Boateng, Deputy Minister of Finance; Mrs Elsie Darley Owusu; Kwame Karikari Tweneboah-Boateng; Kofi Ofori Tweneboah-Boateng; in a tribute said “You encouraged us that there was no end to what one could do once you set your body, soul and spirit to it and gave your all”.
