Makeup Ghana, a social enterprise in the beauty industry, has announced plans to organize the first annual Africa Makeup and Beauty Fair. The fair seeks to showcase and connect the Ghanaian makeup and beauty industry to African and Global partners.
It would also serve as a platform for makeup professionals, makeup brands, beauty retailers and fashion and beauty content creators in Ghana, in one space to propel the industry forward.
Ms Rebecca Donkor, Chief Executive of Makeup Ghana, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Accra, said the fair was a result of feedback and requests by exhibitors and attendees of the maiden event, ‘Makeup Ghana Connects’, which was held in March 2016.
“The consensus was for an expanded continent-wide focused event, bringing together the African Makeup and Beauty industry, and we are delivering as requested,” she said.
She said Makeup Ghana Connects, the previous event, featured 30 Exhibitors and over 500 attendees.
“We are anticipating about 100 exhibitors and over 2,500 attendees for the Africa Makeup & Beauty Fair,” she said.
The fair is expected to comprise exhibitions, workshops and seminars, training, makeup and beauty shows, live demonstrations, expert consultations, discount sales, product launches and celebrity appearances.
Ms Donkor said these would provide a variety of marketing opportunities suited for all categories of makeup and beauty practitioners, businesses and brands across all sub-sectors of the African makeup and beauty industry.
She said there would be eight main categories of exhibitors at the event to attract a diverse range of attendees including Makeup and Beauty Products, Skincare and Personal care, Wellness and Spa, Hair and Hair care products, Makeup tools and accessories, Services & Education, Nails and Salon supplies, Machinery as well as packaging and raw materials.
“Our workshops and seminars including the live demonstrations are free events which will attract audiences seeking to meet their favorite makeup artists, start their own makeup or beauty practice or a small business,” she added.
The three-day fair would begin with a showcase by the final year students of beauty and makeup schools, the second day would be a display of Bridal Makeup and Beauty with FX makeup.
The final act of the fair would be by the category winners of the Ghana Makeup Awards 2016.
