The project, which was funded by Sheikh Thani Bin Abdulla Foundation, was to address the water shortage that hit the Nsawam hospital a few months ago.

The Director of the NGO,  Alhaji Ali Zachariah, speaking at the inauguration,  lamented that “residents of Nsawam Adoagyiri in the Eastern Region, battled with acute water shortage due to the drop in the water level at the treatment plant reservoir”.

He said the only source of water was the Densu River, which was allegedly polluted with filth by residents.

Alhaji Zachariah said that, the only option left for the NGO was to provide water to essential service providers, like hospitals and schools.

According to him, 500,000 gallons of water supplied to the hospitals daily was not enough.

Alhaji Zachariah said there was the need to provide hospitals and other institutions with water to prevent cholera and other communicable diseases.

The Nsawam Municipal Director of Health, Mrs. Esther Dua-Oyinka, commended the NGO for the gesture, and appealed to other organisations and philanthropists to come to the aid of the hospital.
