A 31-year-old trader, who smashed a bottle of beer on his girlfriend’s face thereby causing harm to her was on Wednesday remanded in police custody by an Accra Circuit Court.
Prince Adarkwa had his plea reserved after a charge of causing harm had been read out to him.
This was after Inspector I.A.A. Ahor had prayed the court not to take his plea because the Police were conducting further investigations into the matter.
Additionally, the prosecution said the victim, Lydia Afrakumah, who was also a trader, was on admission at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital and the Police would like to know what her conditions would
be.
Inspector I.A.A. Ahor said both the suspect and complainant had two children.
Inspector Ahor said on April 1, this year, at about 11:20 am, there was misunderstanding between them.
The suspect was infuriated and smashed a bottle of beer he was drinking on the face of the complainant.
Inspector Ahor said the complainant who was hurt shouted for help and neighbours went to her rescue and apprehended the suspect and escorted him to Achimota/Mile Seven Police Station.
The prosecution said during Police interrogation, Adarkwa admitted the offence.
