Members of the Agona East District Assembly on Tuesday confirmed Mr Martin Luther Obeng as the District Chief Executive.
Mr Obeng, 30, a lecturer at the Takoradi Polytechnic, polled 20 out of the 29 votes cast with one abstention while nine voted against him.
Mrs Ama Benyiwa Doe, the Central Regional Minister, appealed to the 30-member assembly, chiefs, opinion leaders and other stakeholders in
the district to rally behind the new DCE to ensure rapid development of the area.
She said Agona East District, a new district, needed adequate resources from its internal generated fund to support funds from the
government funds and other donor agencies to undertake projects.
Mrs Benyiwa Doe said Mr Obeng had the capability and vision to manage the district to become one of the best in the Central Region.
Nana Okofo Katakyi Nyakoh Eku X, Omanahene of Nyakrom Traditional Area and Nana Kofi Agyekum, the acting President of Nsaba Traditional
Area and Adotenhene of Nsaba appealed to the members of the assembly to come together as a team to facilitate the development of the area.
Nana Nyakoh Eku called on the people in the district to put their political differences aside and support Mr Obeng.
Mr Obeng pledged to work hard to promote the government “Better Ghana” agenda.
