Corporate bodies have asked to complement government’s efforts at improving the standard of education in the country by supporting schools with needed facilities.
All should accept to do a little bit to create the right environment for effective teaching and learning in schools.
Mr Kwasi Oppong, a Kumasi-based businessman, told a meeting of the parent-teacher-association (PTA) of the Kwasi Oppong Senior High School (SHS), a private school at the Suame Magazine in Kumasi that corporate bodies could also establish scholarship schemes for brilliant but needy pupils and students.
The PTA deliberated on issues pertaining to the development of the institution.
Mr Oppong, who is the owner the school, said his vision was to help the young people have access to quality education to enable them make significant contribution the nation’s socio-economic and political development.
Since last year, he had awarded scholarship to 12 brilliant students from poor homes in the school.
Mr Osei Tutu Ababio, the Headmaster, said the school which was established a year ago with 61 students now has a population of more than 400.
The school has the ultimate goal of ensuring academic excellence and sound moral training.
