Mr Kosi Attoh, Kpando Coordinator, National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), has cautioned owners of buildings to reinforce roofs of their properties to forestall disaster as the transition period between the seasons are characterized by strong winds and storms.
He said the transitional period was already recording some devastation in the district and urged landlords to heed the advice.
Mr Attoh, in an interview with GNA, said the new shift in paradigm of the mandate of NADMO towards relief should be a wake-up call for all to be conscious of events around them and subscribe to
precautionary measures.
He asked the people to engage in environmental cleanliness to avoid falling prey to the outbreak of cholera.
Mr Attoh asked boat-owners commuting on the Volta Lake to be cautious of whirlwinds peculiar to the transition period between dry and rainy seasons, asking them to abide by sailing regulations.
He appealed to boat operators to berth on the nearest banks when they encounter storms and refrain from acts could put their lives and those of passengers at risk.
Mr Attoh reminded them that failure to abide by safety measures including overloading of passengers was punishable by imprisonment.
