A circuit Court in Cape Coast has remanded Kwame Issah alias Kwame “Aponkye”, a 35-year-old porter, in prison custody for allegedly stealing two goats valued at GH¢160.
Issah, who pleaded not guilty to the charge of stealing, would re-appear on Wednesday, April 13.
Inspector Christiana Sampong told the court presided over by Mrs. Florence Kai Otu that the complainant, a police officer at the Central Police Station at Bakaano, on March 10 this year boarded a vehicle on the Abura Dunkwa highway to Cape Coast with the accused who was then carrying two sacks.
The prosecution said the police officer suspected Issah of carrying stolen items and prompted policemen on duty at the Moree Police Barrier when the vehicle they were travelling in got there.
Insp Sampong said the police discovered that the sacks were containing two dead goats, maize, two bathroom slippers and some rags.
She said when Issah was questioned, he could not give any tangible reason as to how he came by the goats and he was arrested.
The prosecution said that the owner of the goats is yet to contact the police.
