A massive fire has hit Samba City, in Brazil's Rio de Janeiro, local media said Monday.
The fire destroyed the warehouses where Rio de Janeiro's samba groups store the props and costumes for Brazil's largest Carnival parade, according to the local Globo TV.
Firefighters were battling the blaze but had yet to contain it, said the reports.
There were no reports of casualties, but according to the president of the samba group alliance, Jorge Castanheiro, the loss was tremendous as the fire occurred just about a month before this year's carnival was set to begin and Samba groups have been nearly ready for the celebration.
Samba City is Rio de Janeiro's Carnival costume and float manufacturing complex.
